Originally made as a gift for my then 7-year-old nephew (who chose the colors), Salonga was the second animal incorporated into the “Lightbulb Lovies” line. She was named for my favorite exotic-featured actress and likes her sushi with extra wasabe. She once starred in a community theatre production of Miss Saigon, but gave up her dream of becoming a Broadway star to settle down in the ‘burbs.

She sits about 5 1/2” tall and is about 3 1/4” at her widest point. Using simple stitches and an “attach as you go” technique, this pattern works up quickly and uses very little sewing (I hate to sew). The example was worked using worsted weight cotton yarn, but you will get better results from a worsted weight acrylic, wool, or other similar fiber with good loft.

Supplies needed to complete project:
worsted weight yarn -- about 50 yards of color A (body and tail), about 40 yards of color B (ears and limbs)
size G-6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook
yarn needle
stitch markers or lengths of scrap yarn (highly recommended)
small amounts of yarn, embroidery floss or other embellishments as desired

The pattern will be emailed to you in .pdf format within 48 hours of confirmed payment. I am usually able to get patterns out within a few hours of purchase, but I never know what my internet connection is going to do.
