Salvinia is the second shawl in the embryophytes collection. The inspiration for this collection came through my day job working in the molecular plant sciences field.

I wanted to create a collection of shawls each inspired by the big groups of plants within the embryophytes also known as land plants.

Ferns represent an evolutionary step in between the mosses and today’s wonderful variety of flowering plants - thus deserving their very unique spot in this collection. The pattern was inspired by the group of water ferns in that I tried to capture their beauty by the lacy border of the shawl. Like in ferns the leaves of the lace interconnect, forming a beauty that lies in the symmetry of the motive while the structure of the garter body resembles the surface
pattern of the fern leaves.

Salvinia uses only basic stitches even beginners can master easily. As the pattern gives you the percentages you can knit this also with different yarn weights that will result in everything from a small shawlette to a huge wrap you can snuggle up with.

To celebrate the release of Slavinia use the Code WaterFern until the April 23rd to get 25% off the pattern.
