“This great-looking cabled dress is worked from the neck down, which allows the knitter to adjust the length if required,” says clever Van Stralen. “The neck and front yokes are knit separately, then joined at the underarms and worked in the round to the end. The middle front panel lends itself to decorating with beads, embroidery, applique, needle felting or crocheted accents. A garter stitch edging is worked on the neck, armholes, and bottom at the same time as the dress is knit, which leaves only the shoulders to finish with a three-needle bind-off.” So no sewing! And there’s not a lot of cabling, just enough to streamline the sides of the garment. A fabulous jumper worn over a top, as well as a dress on its own.
