I designed this scarf after seeing a school picture of myself from first grade. I was wearing a dress with these colors that my mother made for me. It was my favorite dress and I cried when I outgrew it. And gave my little sister the death eye when she wore it.

The scarf is crocheted as one piece, reducing the fiddly bits of making lots of squares and then assembling them. Whicdh I hate doing.

Each square is slightly off the previous square, creating a stair step pattern. Blocking is critical to this scarf. Don’t expect the squares to pop until after you block it.

This scarf crochets up fast, so it could be ready in a day. It can also be made to any length you want.

While the pattern uses 2 colors, you could make this out of several color-coordinating scraps in your stash.
