Sarabande Blanket
Deliciously soft, warm and thick, this reversible blanket or throw will keep you cosy on long winter evenings. With an intricate interlocking pattern of varying motifs and an i-cord edge, it is double-knitted in smooth Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. The pattern includes instructions and tips for the double-knitting technique and charts for the colour-work designs.
YARN
50 g (1 3⁄4 oz/125 m/410 yd) balls Debbie Bliss Cashmerino yarn
For blanket approx. 36 in (~ 90 cm) square: 9 balls main colour, 8 balls contrast colour
For blanket 47 x 52 in (~ 120 x 130 cm): 16 balls main colour, 15 balls contrast colour
Note: If you decide not to splice the yarn at the joins you may need an additional ball of each colour.
For the sample illustrated, I used Ruby (700) and White (100).
You can of course use any yarns (and suitable needles) you wish – the blanket or throw will just be a different size. Avoid yarns that are prone to excessive pilling.
NEEDLES
1 x US 3 (3.25 mm/UK 10) circular needle – 39 in (100 cm) long for smaller blanket or 47 in (120 cm) long for larger blanket

A small stitch holder
1 tapestry needle for sewing in ends

IMPORTANT NOTE
This will take even the fastest of knitters a long time to make, so don’t start it for a special occasion in a month’s time!
