I designed this shawl as a homage to the slogan that is often used to describe Saratoga: “Health, History, Horses”. Health for the mineral springs that flow throughout the City, history for the Victorian era which made Saratoga Springs famous, and horses for the rise of horse racing in Saratoga Springs.

The bottom of this shawl is adorned with horseshoe lace. The crescent shape is reminiscent of what Victorian women wore when horses became king in the Spa City.

May you experience the health benefits of knitting as you work on this piece!
