A marvelous piece that represents the very best in original knitwear, and seems to reinterpret a whole style genre. It looks complicated but isn’t, really. The bodice is garter stitch and the sleeves stockinette. The lace pattern on the ‘skirt’ is only two rows high, and one of those is purled, so that’s no big deal. The contrast-colour bodice edging is picked up and knit out as a hem, with a turning ridge (purled). The ‘skirt’ is slightly shaped (narrowed for the waist). To crown all this loveliness, there’s the optional organza at the neck, and the gauge is only 6 sts to 1”/2.5cm, so it’s faster to work than a regular sock-weight garment would be. Detailed, careful instructions.
