Named after the ancient Roman festival which took place in mid December to honor the deity Saturn. The festival was a period of partying and gift giving to mark the winter solstice, or shortest day and longest night of the year. This slouch hat was the first hat pattern designed by Joanna Brandt using the new CinDWood adult fine gauge loom with 80 pegs and 3/8” gauge. Since these looms will begin to ship approximately around when Saturnalia would take place and we are all celebrating the launch of these new looms the name Saturnalia Slouch seemed appropriate.

This pattern includes detailed written instructions best suited for intermediate loom knitters and requires approximately 145-165 yards of worsted weight yarn. Pattern can be adapted to other even number looms that have peg multiples of 4.
