Needles:
• size US 6 (4 mm) short circular needle, or size needed for gauge
• size US 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles for picking up sleeve stitches

Extras:
• 2 stitch markers
• four .75” buttons
• tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:
• 22 sts and 26 rows over 4” in garter stitch, post blocking
• 24 sts and 15 rows over 4” in stockinette
Row gauge is important in this pattern.

Notes

This sweater is worked in one piece from the hem to the bind off for the sleeves.

The stripes are worked into the side seams using intarsia - remember to twist the two yarns together on the wrong side when switching colors. You will have several balls of yarn working at once.

After the shoulders are knit together with a three needle bind off the sleeves are picked up and knit down from the body. They are worked flat with an intarsia stripe of the main color on each edge.

I have included directions for some very simple short row shaping so that the shoulder curves a little more than usual.
Although the sleeves are worked flat, moving around the corner on the shoulder can be a tricky and I suggest using your circular needle in the magic loop style, or some double points.
