I made this beanie for myself to wear on an upcoming trip to France. I wanted something quick to knit with some fun cabled textures, that was slightly slouchy but not too oversized. This beanie does just the trick. Increase the length the brim if you want to be able to fold it up. Add another cable repeat if you want a super slouchy beanie. It would also look cute with a pompom!

CORRECTION 1/4/2017

I adjusted the numbering of steps on my document without updating what I wrote in the steps, thank you to a couple of fellow knitters who pointed out my mistake!

The PDF has been updated as of today and reflects the following corrections:

Hat Body

Steps 5-11 should read:

  1. Repeat steps 3 & 4 two times for a total of four rounds.
  2. On the fifth round, repeat step 3.
  3. On the sixth round work a cabling round: * K1, P4, C3B, P4, repeat from * until end of round.
  4. Repeat steps 3 & 4 five times for a total of ten rounds.
  5. On the eleventh round, repeat step 3.
  6. On the twelfth round, repeat step 7.
  7. Repeat steps 8-10 once more. You should now have a total of three cable crossovers in your beanie.

Hat Crown

Steps 12 & 13 should read:

  1. Repeat steps 3 & 4 twice for a total of four rounds.
  2. On the fifth round, repeat step 3.
