A neat peaked cap, reminiscent of vintage cycling caps or old school caps. The peak and band are knitted with the yarn held double to keep the fabric firm and hold the shape, the crown reverts to one end of yarn. No sewing, other than darning ends in! The band is picked up and knitted onto the shaped peak.

The peak is knitted back-and-forth in rows and the rest of the hat is knitted in-the-round onto the peak. The thumb cast-on gives the best results here.

Tension for garter stitch peak and band is 15 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over garter st on 6mm nds with yarn held double, after steaming / blocking.

Three size options, actual circumference of band 50(52.5, 55)cm / 19¾(20½, 21½)”

Length from top of Crown to bottom of Band approximately 17(18, 18.5)cm / 6¾(7, 7¼)” – easily adjustable but will affect yarn amounts given.

Knitted in the ever-lovely Artesano Aran, thanks once again to the lovely people at Artesano for giving us the yarn.

1 x 100g hank for the single-colour in all sizes, actual amounts used:

83(88, 94)g / 110(117, 125)m / 120(127, 136)yds.

plus an extra hank of contrast colour for the 2-colour version. Actual amounts used for 2-colour version:
