Materials required: approx: 365 (415, 475) m/ 390 (443, 507) yds of any ARAN weight yarn, Pair of 5 mm/ US 8 needles, cable needle, small stitch holder, med stitch holder, yarn needle.

Chest: 80 (84, 89) cm/ 31 1/2 (33, 35) ins
Length to shoulder: 46 (49.5, 53.5) cm/ 18 (19 1/2, 21) ins
Armhole depth (after armbands): 14 (15, 16.5) cm/ 5 1/2 (6, 6 1/2) ins
Shoulder width: 28.5 (30, 31) cm/ 11 1/4 (11 3/4, 12 1/4) ins
V-neck depth (after neckband): 15 (16.5, 18) cm/ 6 (6 1/2, 7) ins
The boys in the photo are wearing size 8.
NOTE: This pattern is designed to be worked FLAT. The instructions are in rows, with a RS and WS. Several people have had difficulty with the ribbed neckband. If you follow the instructions as written (in rows) there will be a centred double decrease at V point, as shown in the pattern photos. The neckband reads as follows:

With RS facing of front, join yarn to cast off end of left ½ cable panel extension at neck edge. Pick up 58 (60, 62) sts along entire left neck edge (approx 5 sts for every 6 rows), K1 (centre V), from stitch holder or safety pin and keep it marked, pick up 58 (60, 62) sts along entire right neck edge, ending at cast off end of right ½ cable panel extension.
117 (121, 125) sts now on needle.
Row 1 (WS): P1, k1 rep to last st, p1.
Row 2 (RS): K1, p1 rep to 2 sts before centre st, k1, S2KP, k1, p1, k1 rep to end.
115 (119, 123) sts now on needle.
Row 3 (WS): P1, k1 rep to 1 st before centre st, p3, k1, p1 rep to end.
Row 4 (RS): K1, p1 rep to 1 st before centre st, S2KP, p1, k1 rep to end.
113 (117, 121) sts now on needle.
Row 5 (WS): Cast off in rib pattern.
