About the Design:
The sweater has a split lower edge for ease of movement, which transitions to cables for a slightly more fitted waist, then to the allover guernsey pattern. The overall effect is an a-line.

This design is an adaptation of the pattern, Scottish Fleet – Trees and Bars, as seen in Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys and Arans, by Gladys Thompson.

I’ve altered the cables from the regular repeat to an irregular one. I’ve also changed the “bars” from reverse St st to seed st, as the pattern stitches are not just purled, as in the original, but purled in the second color!

Knit in Naturally’s 14-ply Natural Wool (you can smell the lanolin!) at a tighter gauge than usual, makes for a great ski or hiking sweater, or just a sweater to wear walking around an outdoor antiques show in October!
