The blanket has an abstract design of the landscape of the Scottish Highlands with moorland and rocks, woodland and lochs, and tall mountains in the background.

The blanket is constructed with garter stitch mitred squares and no sewing other than weaving in yarn ends is required.

The sample blanket measures 51.25” (130 cm) x 64.25” (163 cm).

The blanket is worked in an Irish fingering weight yarn which has the ideal colour range for a Scottish landscape. This is a commercial yarn, which can be purchased online as ‘Kilcarra Donegal Yarns - Soft Merino Tweed’ in 1kg cones.

There are many suitable substitutes. Many hand dyed fingering weight sock yarns have a similar yardage and should make interesting alternatives.

Gauge is not critical for a blanket and and, with a few adjustments, heavier yarns such as DK or even Aran weight could also be used.
