There’s a bin in your closet, and it is filled with colorful little balls of yarn that you have kept: Scraps from so many projects. Scraps you couldn’t bear to throw away because they were so beautiful. Scraps that are simply the aftermath of that Lizard Ridge blanket.

Here is your chance to use them.

Pick your brightest, cheeriest colors, and put them together in this hat.

If you’re not a scrap keeper, then go buy three balls of a self-striping yarn. Use two of them in the Fair-Isle rows, and the third in the knit-plain rows. (No need to cut yarn between sections. Fewer ends to weave in!)

The instructions assume that you know how to do Fair Isle. If you do not, check our our First Fair Isle headband pattern for a tutorial, or look at our website’s video tutorial at www.reallyclear.com.
