The Scriptorium mittens are worked in the round using stranded colourwork techniques and with an afterthought thumb. They are worked in Blacker Yarns Swan 4ply, a delightfully plump yarn from the fleeces of small sheep flocks.

The pattern is fully charted and written out. It includes a schematic and tips on how to modify fit.

Scriptorium springs from my fascination with makers’ hands. The pattern is named after the buildings where scribes worked. The colour palette picks up hues from medieval manuscripts.

Suitable for intermediate knitters.

Yarn requirements:
1 ball each in Mountain Berry (col A), Hawkweed (col B), Pale Maiden (col C), and Sky Grey (col D)
