The dolphin has found its way into the hearts of many with its irresistible cuteness and surprising smartness. But there are also some pretty interesting facts about these sea creatures that you may not have heard. Here’s one. Did you know that a dolphin never goes completely to sleep? They only sleep “halfway” because only half of their brains actually sleep at one time. This makes sense, because a dolphin will not breathe if it is unconscious. It actually has to think to breathe! And scientists believe that because they never completely go into deep sleep, they don’t therefore dream.

Enjoy making this double knit Sea Dolphin Potholder featuring two dolphins circling each other in play, surrounded by ripples of water. If you’re unfamiliar with double knitting, this small potholder is a great way to learn this knitting technique. Both sides are the same, except with reversed colors. You’ll get the accomplishment of finishing a beautiful project and the confidence of adding a new skill to your knitting basket.

With this instantly downloadable PDF pattern, you’ll have all the help you need to get started!
