Mìlsean-mara - Sea pink grows on our rocky Hebridean shores and salt marsh in-lets flowering between April and July. In spite of its small and delicate appearance it is incredibly hardy. Deluged every full moon by our spring tides and at times summer gales, its little heads remain defiant and resplendent giving us carpets of glorious sea pink.

Thus our Nordic style hat and mittens pattern is delicate yet strong like the flower. The neat fitting hat will take you hiking to the top of the mountain and the mittens will keep your fingers cosy on any blustery beach walk.

The pattern set is designed for the intermediate knitter, with the following skills required: casting on and knitting in the round (including on small circumferences), working stranded colourwork from a chart (including catching floats on wrong side of work), increases and decreases (including working k2tog decreases).

Our ‘Sea Pink Hat & Mittens Kit’ includes - 100g Storm Grey 4 Ply yarn, 50g Sea Pink 4 Ply yarn, 50g Peaty Brown 4 Ply yarn and a Printed Pattern.
