Seamless Set-In Sleeve
From the Pattern Description: “A seamless set-in sleeve?” my friend said. “From the top down? It can’t be done.”
Sure it can,” I answered. ”I’ve done it. And it not only looks better and fits better than a sewn-in sleeve, but it’s easier to figure, too.” Practically fool-proof.”
“Well,” my friend said, dubiously. ”I’m sure it’s never been done before.”
It may have been done before, or it may not. I don’t know. I have never seen it before, but then I have not seen every knitted garment in the world. Anyway, here is a seamless set-in sleeve worked from the top down, presented perhaps for the first time. It is a better-looking and better-fitting sleeve than the traditional one, having a very smooth cap free from irregularities. The method of working it relieves the knitter of any doubt concerning the position of the sleeve in the armhole, so that it cannot be spoiled by careless sewing or by miscalculations of the cap shaping.
