The simple square body is bordered with a striped garter-stitch edging, mitered at the corners, which is picked up and knitted after the sweater is finished. The center front zipper is guided up and down with a corded pull embellished with three-color pom-poms. Kristin Nicholas is the author of two recent books on embroidery.
