This design evokes the Aran Islands with the arrangement of its vertical pattern motifs. Mirroring the two sides of the sock top allows some of those motifs to merge at center front and over the toe in pleasing ways. The toe-shaping is especially fun, because the decrease lines blend right into the pattern motifs and form the centers of two symmetrical bell shapes.
