Color-shifting yarns and stranded colorwork are a match made in heaven! These mitts are a modern take on the traditional Norwegian mitten: the motifs on the back of the hand are reminiscent of a cluster of stars, while the beautiful color changes of Spincycle’s Dyed in the Wool add depth and color while using only two yarns. The contrasting cuffs and i-cord bind off show off the unique color shifts of the yarn.

Paired with Brooklyn Tweed’s LOFT, these mitts are airy and light, and the woolen-spun Loft works well with the handspun feel of the Spincycle, giving it a rustic air. For something a little more luxe, Shibui’s Staccato gives the mitts a glowing luster, while still allowing the Spincycle’s colors to shine. Pick two yarns with high contrast for best results.

The finished circumference for each size is: 7” (8”, 9”)

Yardage requirements for each color are listed below:

- main color:
75 (95, 115) yds fingering weight yarn, shown in Brooklyn Tweed Loft (100% wool) in Snowbound and Shibui Staccato (70% merino / 30% silk) in Tar
1 skein all sizes
- contrasting color:
95 (110, 130) yds Spincycle Dyed in the Wool (100% superwash wool), shown in The Saddest Place and Robin’s Egg
1 skein all sizes
