The pattern came about as the result of a Fair Isle tutorial given by Elizabeth Lovick and a discussion in the Stargate Ravelry group on charting glyphs.

This is a great way to use up leftover fingering weight yarn. The pattern uses about 150 yds of a main color and 150 yds of a contrast color. I used a variegated yarn for the contrast color.

Note: The last chart, pattern D (unlabeled) should have “k2tog in CC” instead of “k1 in CC” for the first st of the top line. The change was made to the pdf on 22 March 2009.

A new version of the hat was added on September 2010. It has a change to the lower edge of the hat plus changes to the last 2 patterns plus a change in the Centaurus glyph.
