Shaka Bralette
Howzit! The Shaka Bralette is the piece your wardrobe has been waiting for. A simple DK bralette with fun contrast detailing, you’ll be finding yourself making one in every color! The pattern comes with a guide to help you pick the perfect size and make modifications to get the best fit!
Materials
-DK weight yarn or any yarn with which you can match gauge Sample used Blame the Knots No Duh DK in Power Surge and Watt’s Up? (246yds/100g)
-US 6 /4.0 mm circular needles (or needle size required to meet gauge)
-US 3 /3.25 mm circular needles (or needle three sizes smaller) for ribbing
-One stitch marker to mark BOR
-Stitch holders, spare cables, or scrap yarn for placing stitches on hold
-Darning needle
Gauge
20 stitches and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette knit in the round, blocked on US 6 /4.0 mm needles
Sizing
1, 2 (3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8) (9, 10, 11) with a finished bust circumference of 22, 26 (30, 34, 38) (42, 46, 50) (54, 58, 62)” / 55, 65 (75, 85, 95) (105, 115, 125) (135, 145, 155) cm
Meant to be worn with AT LEAST 6”/ 15 cm of negative ease at the under bust, and can support 10” / 25 cm or more of negative ease at the fullest part of the bust.
Yardage
182, 219 (259, 305, 348) (394, 443, 499) (549, 603, 667) yds / 166, 200 (237, 279, 318) (360, 405, 456) (502, 551, 610) m
Each additional inch of body length will require 21, 25 (28, 32, 36) (40, 44, 47) (51, 55, 59) yds / 19, 23 (26, 29, 33) (37, 40, 43) (47, 50, 54) m.
All sizes will require approximately 50 yds / 46 m for the contrast color.
Construction
Pattern is constructed bottom-up, beginning with the ribbed band. The body of the bralette is worked in the round before stitches are bound off and front cups are worked. Front cups are worked flat, followed by i-cord straps. Finally, contrast i-cord straps are added at the end.
