These socks are inspired by the Flamborough Ganseys. They feature an alternating diamond panel down the front and a chevron panel down the back, flanked by cables and a wraparound seed stitch panel.

This is my first pattern. As written, the fingering-weight pattern features a toe-up sock with a standard short-row heel. Of course, the charts are easily modified for other sizes or set into a different toe and heel!

Quick charts for 72-stitch socks are available here. You’ll need to increase stitches on the toe and heel accordingly.

Note: lining up the front and back charts can be tricky if you started the heel partway through the front chart. I knit several rows plain across the back of the leg, then began the back chart once it lined up with the front chart.
