This cowl is an exercise in matching a hook that seems too small (6.5mm) for the yarn weight (bulky). The result is a loose drape in offset open-work.
Pattern is worked on a multiple of 4 plus 2 stitches in a 2-row pattern repeat to offset the stitch work.
Using an extended stitch keeps the yarn open and airy along with the double yarn overs.
The crochet equivalent to this would be 2 single crochet extended stitches followed by chain 2 skip 2.
100 grams of bulky yarn provides a generous width.
