Sharktooth is a really simple triangular shawl with basic shaping which uses one skein of 4ply plus some contrast yarn. Approx 420-430yd of main and 155-160yd of contrast. You can use 4ply or 2ply for the contrast, just make sure the colour is different enough that it stands out.

Interest is given by the textured stitches which occur in increasingly larger wedges up one side, like the serrated edge of a shark’s tooth. These wedges also prevent curling which makes the shawl more wearable.

Even though it’s only made from a single skein the length is generous and can be wrapped several ways without sliding off.

The border is also worked like rows of little shark teeth, just to complete the picture.

Sample knit in a merino-silk single-spun with a fluffy mink yarn for contrast.
