All cozies fit a large-sized chicken egg

This versatile sheep cozy can have many uses; it fits a large chicken egg, which is about the same size as a plastic re-fillable egg. Create a whimsical centrepiece, embellish an Easter basket, or leave on your co-worker’s desk as a secret surprise!

To give the textured appearance of the body, I recommend knitting 2 strands of yarn together. One worsted weight held with a lace/light fingering mohair or boucle yarn. Dig through your stash and see what unique combinations you can come up with for your flock!

Size: Instructions are for one size, the finished, flat cozy will measure approximately 3.75 inches tall (at the front shoulders), and 3.5 inches long
Yarn: Approx. 25 yds of worsted weight yarn, held together with approx. 25 yds lace weight textured or boucle yarn for the sheep body and top of the head.
White sheep was knit with Red Heart super saver in aran colour for the body, held with Be Sweet Extra fine Boucle in Natural.
Brown sheep was knit with Bernat super value in honey with Be Sweet Extra Fine Mohair in Dark Camel.
Approx. 4 yds desired contrast colour for the face
Approx. 2 yds for the ear (same as body colour)
Needles: Set of 5mm (US 8) straight knitting needles
Set of 3.25mm (US 3) straight knitting needles for the outer ear and face
Gauge: 7 sts and 11 rows = 10cm (2 inches) in seed stitch with 2 yarns held together.
Other Materials needed include: half yard length of black or white fingering weight yarn or embroidery thread for eyes
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
plastic egg or large sized chicken egg for stuffing the sheep
A small amount of polyfill stuffing for the head
Happy knitting!
