Herding dogs, often referred to as sheepdogs, are a common sight on farms.
They respond to a variety of herding commands, indicated by a hand movement, whistle, or voice. Different breeds herd animals in different ways. Some breeds, such as the Australian cattle dog, nip the heels of animals to control them, while the Border Collie,
for instance, gets in front of the animals and stares them into submission!
