This pattern was inspired by tiny historic booklets with knitting annotations in the Gawthorpe Textiles Collection.

MATERIALS
Hat
• 2 x 50g balls of DK weight yarn (based on 100m per 50g)
• 1 pair of 3.25mm (US3) and 4mm (US6) knitting needles
• Cable needle
• Tapestry needle
Mittens
• 2 x 50g balls of DK weight yarn (based on 100m per 50g)
• 1 pair of 3.75mm (US5) and 4mm (US6) knitting needles
• Cable needle
• Tapestry needle

TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm/4in square over stocking stitch using 4mm (US6) needles.
Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

MEASUREMENTS
To fit average adult head and hands.
