Excerpt from Bargello Knits

One of the fun discoveries I made while working in bargello knitting was that long color change yarns are not restricted to columns of equal width. The columns were even more interesting when I shifted the segment yarns at random intervals. The color progression abruptly stopped in one column and started again in its neighboring column. The perfect translation to a wearable piece was a coat with large areas of fabric to show the dramatic color changes.

Pattern notes
Coat sections and ribbed accents are worked separately and sewn together. Cuff and lower hem are worked lengthwise in strips and attached. Front lapels are lined with fabric for stability.
