I love scarves and cowls that are reversible, and I love being able to use many yarns with one pattern. Shelter Cove satisfies on both counts. This lacy cowl pattern is written for fingering weight linen yarn, but with a few adjustments, you can substitute any yarn you’d like for a different effect. Try a mohair/silk blend for an ethereal version, use sock yarn from your stash, or try a worsted-weight wool for warm winter accessory. Shelter Cove is the perfect stash buster!

Sample shown knitted from 3 skeins of Quince & Co. Sparrow. It is approximately 60 inches (153 cm) in circumference and 8 inches (21 cm) tall after blocking (measurement before blocking: 57 inches by 8 inches). Measurements and yardage will vary if you choose a different weight of yarn or vary the number of stitches you cast on, but Shelter Cove looks fabulous in any size!

This pattern includes written instructions only (no chart), but the pattern stitch is so simple that a chart isn’t really necessary. You will have it memorized very quickly.
