Shepherd's Checkerboard
by Wendy Ellis
Classic lines, a traditional checkerboard pattern in Fair Isle stranding paired with an extraordinary yarn make this a very special hat. Two skeins of Plain Yarn will make two hats.
Plain Yarn is produced from a small flock of Romney sheep on an organic farm in Lancaster County, PA and is locally processed and spun as well. We have it available for sale in our online shop or here in LYS in Intercourse, PA.
Other light fingering weight yarns can be substituted. This is a simple stranded pattern to memorize--making it a great way to build your Fair Isle knitting strategies. The pattern is charted, easy to follow, and the pattern is easy to see as you knit.
Vogue Knitting has a tutorial here for corrugated rib.
