Traditional gloves knitted in the small town of Sanquhar Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Originally knitted in drugget on very fine needles in black and white.

Materials: 2 ozs. white, 2 ozs. black, 1 ozs. red
1 set No. 14 needles for hand.
1 set No. 11 needles for cuff

No gauge is given; Size is controlled by needle size.
Ladies’ - English size 16 (1.5mm)
Men’s - English size 13 or 14 (2mm or 2.25)

The Shepherd’s plaid pattern derived from the effect of weaving with two colours to produce plaids or checks.
Shepherds working in all weathers wore plaids as a practical garment to keep them warm and dry.
