Add a little luxury to your wardrobe with this simple and flattering layered piece.

Sherbrooke Street in Montreal is an elegant shopping street, with fashionable boutiques and art galleries. It was the inspiration for this piece.
This color-block tunic-length top is worked in stockinette stitch, using 3 colors, with the intarsia slanting at a diagonal. By using increases and decreases at either side of the color change, you get a crisp straight line for the edge.

The top features a deep U-shaped neckline, and a wide garter stitch border. Two side slits in the garter border provide ease of movement.
The piece is worked bottom up, with gentle waist shaping.

This is a great project to learn intarsia, since there are very few color changes.

Thanks to Juri for her excellent test knitting.
