This shawl can be knitted in any yarn: the yardage and final size will differ.

The shawl is knit from the outside in. The lace is knitted, then stitches are picked up from the straight edge. The borders are knit inwards toward the centre. The centre is then knit on from the final border, removing the stitches from the side borders as the work progresses. The stitches from the final border are grafted to the live stitches from the centre. Finally the mitres between the borders are sewn, and the start and finish of the lace edging are grafted.
