This shawl is worked in one piece starting at one side with a very short cast on. The shawl increases in width for about 1/3 of the yarn, remains constant for 1/3 of the yarn, and decreases with the remaining yarn. The lacey edges are worked at the same time as the lacey body.
The shawl can be made larger or smaller by altering the number of repeats in the increase (and decrease) sections.
This is an ideal pattern where a single skein of luxury yarn or handspun is available.
This is one of 3 shawls in a series inspired by visits to our cottage on Stoney Lake in the Kawartha region of Ontario.
Kawarth means “shining waters” in Ojibwe.
