Designed for Super Sock Scarefest 2020, this pattern is inspired by the movie Army of Darkness. From a chainsaw blade cuff (complete with dripping blood down the back of the leg) to taunting skeletons and skulls, this sock cannot match the true campy nature of the movie, but it definitely tries.

Knit cuff down, this pattern incorporates a scary provisional cast on, duplicate stitch for the skeleton and the jacquard ladder colourwork technique for the skulls on the foot. With a gauge of 9 stitches / 12 rounds to the inch, it comes in two sizes:
Small (60 stitch) size: approximately 6.75” (17cm).
Large (72 stitch) size: approximately 8” (20cm).

Three colours are needed:

  • fingering weight sock yarn for the main portion of the sock (about ¾ of one 100g skein of 400 yards / 366 meters);
  • a bright coloured fingering weight sock yarn (approximately 20 yards / 18 meters) for your first contrast colour;
  • fingering weight sock yarn (approximately 100 yards / 92 meters) for your second contrast colour.
