LARGE BAG WITH POCKETS
Shopping bag, week-end-bag, beach-bag, diaper-bag

The shape of this bag is inspired by the large paper bags you get when shopping.
It’s spacey and practical, squared-angled and sturdy, with many pockets, inside and outside.

The pattern has many steps, with many details.
Take your time, follow the instructions and the diagrams, and you’ll be rewarded with a very special bag.
Make your bag personal, choose your favorite colors.

How the bag is worked:
1: Two front-panels worked around the rectangular pockets.
2: Pockets created by backing with fabric.
3: Sides and bottom panels worked to one of the
front pieces.
4: Second front piece joined to sides and bottom.
5: Lining and handles.

Tutorial for how to line the bag is included in instructions, as well as instructions for how to make handles and buttons.

Terminology: American Crochet Terms.
Skill Level: Intermediate.

PDF-Pattern:
20 pages. Written instructions, step-by-step pics, tutorials, and stitch diagrams.

MATERIALS:

Yarn:
DK or Worsted. Cotton, or any suitable yarn.

My yarn: Fingering - Crochet thread # 3.
Worked with two strands. Achieves a firm fabric.
WPI (Wrap per inch): 21 (one strand).

(100 g ball (3,6 oz), 290 m (318 yd)
(50 g ball (1.8 oz), 145 m (159 yd)

Any brand for crochet thread # 3 will do fine.
E.g.: Aunt Lydia’s Crochet thread Fashion 3.

Gauge is not very important for this project.
DK yarn will make a bag large like this shopping-bag.
Single strand of crochet-thread # 3, will create a much smaller bag, see last photo on this page.

Amount:
Total 300-750 g (10-20 oz), depending on chosen yarn-weight/bag-size.

Crochet hook:
European metric 3.5 mm, (US E/4).

Outside finished measures for the large bag:
Wide: 49 cm x Tall: 39 cm x Deep: 14 cm
(19.4 x 15.4 x 5.5 in)
