This trapezoid-shaped shawl is knitted from the bottom up, using three fingering weight yarns in an eye-catching geometric design. The technique is intarsia, or color-blocking, and the random sequence stitch pattern produces a lovely, unusual fabric. The shawl may be blocked or not - knitter’s choice; unblocked the texture is soft and cushy, while blocking encourages the drape. It can be made larger or smaller by adding or decreasing the number of rows - this will change the yardage requirements, however. For this version I used nearly all of the background colors and about 20g of the contrasting color. The main part of the body may be done in one rather than two colors, using two skeins. The directions are written rather than charted, and it is suitable for an intermediate knitter.
