A cozy, textural cowl to chase the chills away. Knit out of a warm and silky yarn, the traveling twisted stitches make for an interesting knit that will impress your friends.

The stitch pattern is provided as written instructions as well as in chart form.

Sizing: When knitted as written, this cowl will fit fairly close (depending on your neck size). Doubling the number of cast-on stitches and doubling the yardage will create a long, elegant cowl that drapes down the front (or twisted in half for a snug fit). Also, this cowl can be made deeper by repeating the 25-row pattern repeat until you’re happy with the depth.

Yardage: I used every bit of one skein of Traveler Sport (320 yds) to knit the pictured cowl.

Hints: Any soft sport-weight yarn can be substituted. I suggest a solid or semi-solid colors in order to show off the stitch details. It’s a good idea to make a swatch; a loosely knit cowl (ie. using too large a needle) will tend to obscure the lovely details. A nice solid fabric works best with this pattern. If you’re getting 6 stitches/inch in plain stockinette with your chosen yarn and needles, you should be good to go.

Knit in the round, this pattern requires either circular needles or double points, a cable needle, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
