This beautiful scarf is knit in the gorgeous Rowan Kidsilk Haze Stripe Mohair-Silk yarn. The pattern can be knit into a long rectangular scarf , or into a wide shawl. The knitted fabric is supersoft, light as a feather, and the scarf is wonderfully light and airy. It is also warm and comfortable to wear. The Mohair- Silk yarn is a 70 : 30 % mix, and comes in a multitude of beautiful colourways all of which would look perfect in this pattern. This is a simple pattern and is suitable for beginners. One single skein of 50g /3.5 oz will make either the scarf or the shawl.
The pattern was inspired by the beautiful deserted sandy beach at “Silver Strand” in Louisburgh, County Mayo, Ireland, hence the name. The beach is edged with and golden sand dunes, dotted with pink flowering wild roses, with the rich blues and greens of the ocean blending with the pale lilac and pinks of the seashells on the shore. All of these colours are found is this lovely scarf. The scarf or shawl will be perfect for the colder seasons, but are also ideal for a cool summer evening and a stroll on the beach.
