This is a general instruction or recipe of how to make a simple shawl with just about any nice yarn you have in your stash. The basis is stocking stitch, but I like to use different, simple design elements to make the shawl more interesting to knit. I have used sport weight and worsted weight yarn in the examples, but I guess you could use just about any yarn you have. For a reasonably sized shawl you need at least 400 yards of yarn.
