This pattern was created for students of a high school knitting class to practice basic knitting techniques. The construction of this knit follows a basic formula that can be used for many different berets, with opportunities for working in some lacy decoration. Call this a vanilla pattern for a beret, with room for your choice of sprinkles. Once you have worked through it, you may also be able to see how to adjust its numbers in order to control sizing and proportion as well. Then you won’t ever need a pattern to knit a beret that you like!
