Who needs the plastic or paper bags at the grocery store or farmers’ market when you can knit your own market bag? Going green has never been so easy as with this basic lace bag with a stockinette stitch base for structure.

Speaking of structure, yarn choice is important when you’re making a bag that has the potential of carrying a heavy load. We like to use plant fibers, such as cotton, for their strength. Even better, using a yarn from recycled blue jeans is a wonderful way to truly make this bag a green project.
