Aw man, a dishcloth! It’s technically part of the Summer Kitchen.

If you need dishcloths, these are nice: a minimalist, solid look with some minor technical work to keep you interested. This is both knit flat and then in the round. It’s all garter stitch, so there’s some purling.

The .PDF is free to download for personal use! I may change it to a pay-for-.PDF tipjar situation in the future, and host a free version on my ugly blog, but we’ll see!

In the meantime, this free version includes both the basic garter cloth and a version with eyelets and even more unnecessary technical complication (there are four ktbl stitches in this pattern), so you can hang it up to dry. Enjoy!

Materials:
1 ball of kitchen cotton (or about 75-80 yards of kitchen cotton or equivalent)
1 16” circular needle in US7/4.5mm, or size needed for gauge.
4 removable stitch markers
One crochet hook, in size suited to yarn, for the provisional cast-on
Spare yarn for the provisional cast-on
Tapestry needle

Gauge:
Gauge is 8 sts and 16 rows of blocked garter stitch measured over 2”/5cm.

If you like these, or even if you don’t, please check out my complete portfolio, which is mostly not dishcloths.
