This pattern was created for students of a high school knitting class to practice basic knitting techniques. The construction of this knit follows a basic formula for mitred squares that can be used for many different applications, with opportunities for working in a dash of texture or colour. Once you have worked through it, you may also be able to see how to adjust the numbers used throughout the pattern in order to control size and even shape. This allows you to create your own variants, such as the suggested one of turning your dishcloth into a hanging hand towel. Added bonus: because of the decreasing nature of mitres, the project seems to go faster and faster as you work on it. This is a really simple and motivational project for any beginner knitter.
