A simple summer hat in a style that suits both men and women, made in raffia which is cool, comfortable, lightweight and packable.

The instructions are for hats which will fit teenagers and adults with head circumferences of 56cm (small), 58cm (medium), 60cm (large), 62cm (XL) and 64cm (XXL).

It is made using only sc (dc in British terms) and increases so is an easy project for beginners. It is crocheted in the round in a continuous spiral from the top down, so you can check and adjust the fit as you work.

You will need:

• King Cole Raffia: 2 balls of Woodland (1458) and 1 ball of Black (1455).
• 4.5mm (US 7) crochet hook, or size required for gauge.
• A tapestry needle.
• A stitch marker.
