I found this pattern online which I have modified to fit ages 6 to 12. I made a bunch for my nieces for Christmas this year and they were a big hit! I also made a big pompom for them as well. As my mom would say, “ A toque is not a toque without a pompom!”

I used yarn that is quite thick (probably a size 5 or 6 would work). The cable also helps to bulk up the toque to help keep your little ones toasty warm.

This is a very easy cable pattern and is a great way to try out a cable if you have never done it before. Just make sure you have a cable needle and your off the to races. I have tried to include a lot of pictures to help but there are also great videos on YouTube that can help as well.
