A charming vest that sports an identical front and back – great for little ones who love to dress themselves and yet the pattern travels well across all ages!

I have become enamored with the creative stitch designs of Annie Maloney, so many more will be incorporated into future designs! (This pattern uses one of Maloney’s original stitch patterns published in The Knitter’s Guide to Stitch Design, 2006.)

The pattern provides an easy yet interesting knit that suits both boys and girls. The vest is a very quick knit in worsted weight yarn; the neckline and armhole trim is knit in a lighter (DK weight) contrasting colour to ensure the trim isn’t too bulky. Since less than 50yds 46m is required for the trim, it’s a great place to use a little bit of that treasured hand-dyed yarn!

This vest in knit in the round from hem to armholes and then the front and back are worked separately, flat. There is no seaming; shoulders are joined using a 3-Needle Bind Off (photo tutorial included). The neck and armhole trims are worked in a contrasting colour but may be worked using the main colour. `Continue in pattern' directions are included requiring the knitter to be able to read their knitting.

Stitch patterns are both charted and written out.
